Programming at The Doug
The Frederick Douglass Community Association provides year-round programming for the Junction Community and beyond.
In addition to the regular programming listed here, The Doug also offers opportunities for Senior Basketball Leagues, Worship Services, Martial Arts Classes, Cheerleading, Yoga, and much more.

The Great Outdoor Summer Experience
Offering youth a safe environment to enjoy summer activities. Our goal is to expose youth to horseback riding, swimming, boating, fishing, podcasting, volleyball, basketball, yoga and social engagement.
This is an eight-week program, starting in June and ending in July to early August.
Monday – Thursday, 9am to 3pm
Open Gym
Open Gym is unstructured time where the gym is available to community members to play pick-up sports such as basketball or volleyball, participate in fitness stations, run laps, etc.
Youth Open Gym: Monday – Friday, 3pm – 5pm
Adult Open Gym: Thursday and Saturday, 7:30pm – 9pm
North Star Afterschool Program
Offering youth a safe place to explore social, recreational engagement, and learn culinary skills and about podcasting.
Operates during the school year (October – May).
Monday – Thursday, 4pm – 6pm.
Come Get That Bag
Distributing food to the community to bring hope one bag at a time.
Every first and third Friday, 9am – 12:30pm
The Infant Mortality Prevention Program
Prevention services to young African American women ages 10 to 18 years old within the Toledo community.
The program’s goals are to increase knowledge of the various pathways that can promote better birth outcomes and why it’s important, about how their current lifestyle and health choices can impact their future reproductive outcomes, and give participants the knowledge and skills they need to plan their reproductive lives.
Monday – Friday, 6pm – 7pm via Zoom.
Owens Community College Aspire Program (HSE/GED)
The Owens (Aspire) College and Career Readiness Center offer High School Equivalency (HSE – Formerly GED) no-cost prep classes.
The classes are developed to help students improve the basic skills required to take a state-recognized HSE test. Students will also gain career readiness skills that will help them function in the post-secondary and workforce.
Tuesday and Thursday, 9am – 1:30pm
Urban Volleyball419
Toledo Urban Volleyball Association (TUVA) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to train youth athletes in the sport of Volleyball and to develop, educate, and promote volleyball in its underserved, under-represented youth populations.
Monday – Thursday, 7pm – 8:45pm
