Welcome to
Frederick Douglass Community Association
The people of America…they stand on our necks, and ask why we don’t stand…they tie our feet and ask us why we do not run?”
Ex-enslaved person – Frederick Douglass – 1815
The Frederick Douglass Community Association (FDCA)– Affectionately named “The Doug” by its neighbors is the beloved historical jewel in the community. This community association has been in existence for 104 years and counting. We endeavor to be the demonstration of “love in action” in an underrepresented community that resides within the heart of a health, digital, and food desert. We will extend the fabric of care to each neighbor who needs it and engage public and private partners who share this same commitment. We endeavor to be the first stop for our neighbors in celebration, recreation and especially when in need of information as we equip the Next Generation with wisdom from our Elders and the Legacy of Frederick Douglass’ life lessons.

How Can The FDCA Help You
We help provide safe, healthy, and prosperous communities for our families, children, and elders. It’s a great time to Partner with FDCA as we strive to provide services in our neighborhood. “Our Neighbors are the Investment.” FDCA is an organization set in the heart of the city of Toledo. Our neighbors in the 43607-zip code live with gun violence as a national and local crisis to the whole community. We have the opportunity and it’s critical that we continue these efforts, which address crime and safety as violence prevention education. Let’s address Gun violence as a lifesaving necessity in the Junction Corridor, our surrounding communities and in the United States of America.
